Collection: Ricco Deruta – A Renaissance of Italian Ceramics

Our Ricco Deruta collection is the essence of timeless Italian majolica – handcrafted in Deruta, Umbria, where ceramic traditions have flourished since the Middle Ages. Known for its fine local clay and masterful artistry, Deruta remains the beating heart of Italian ceramic craftsmanship.

The Ricco pattern, meaning “rich” in Italian, dates back to the Renaissance. Its signature design of acanthus leaves and flourishes is inspired by the works of Perugino, one of Italy’s most celebrated artists. These motifs have been lovingly preserved through generations, capturing the elegance and detail of 16th-century art in everyday pieces.

Each item is hand-painted by skilled artisans, from a family-run workshop that has been perfecting majolica for over 50 years. The result is not only beautiful – it’s authentic, original, and full of character. No two pieces are the same.

Exclusively handpicked for Piccola® The Italian Gift Co. these heirloom-quality ceramics are a true expression of Italian heritage – made to be used, admired, and passed down.
